Becoming a BHAT Member

Your voice matters in Austin.

Join BHAT and add your organization to a growing coalition of private behavioral health providers shaping the future of mental health policy in Texas.

Behavioral Health Advocates of Texas (BHAT)

is a statewide association founded in 2010 to promote sound public mental health policies in Texas, with a specific focus on addressing the concerns of private providers. Since our founding, BHAT has worked with legislators, regulatory entities, and stakeholders to address public policy issues critical to the overall health and success of the state’s mental health system as well as the financial viability of private mental health providers in Texas.

BHAT has made significant gains for the private sector through strong and effective advocacy at the state level. As a result of our work with policymakers, the private sector is now acknowledged and seen as a viable option for meeting the mental health needs of Texans.

BHAT is open to non-profit and for-profit private mental health providers across Texas. Membership gives your organization direct access to the policy process — and a network of peers who understand the unique challenges of operating in the private sector.

Join us on our journey to amplify our efforts to promote sound mental health policies in Texas.

As a BHAT Member, you will help to shape the future of BHAT as a robust trade association that advocates and supports its members. You will serve in a leadership capacity and, as such, guide the public policy priorities of the association.

Testimonials

Membership in the Behavioral Health Advocates of Texas (BHAT) has been an important part of growing our behavioral and mental health programs.  BHAT works on our behalf, to open doors to key officials at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. In so doing, BHAT facilitates effective communication that is critical to navigating the regulatory landscape of helping children and families with behavioral and mental health concerns.  Additionally, BHAT serves as a hub through which we can connect and network with peers from around the State.  Collectively, we can accomplish greater things for the children and families we serve than if we were trying to make our way on our own.  BHAT provides us with useful and timely updates that might not otherwise come to our attention including policy updates, funding opportunities and legislative interpretations.  Behavioral and mental health organizations and providers seeking to maximize their impact in Texas should make membership with the Behavioral Health Advocates of Texas a part of their ongoing strategic plan.
